Day 1: Thimphu

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, our representatives will pick you up in the car. The flight offers you beautiful view of mountains and landscapes with Himalayan peaks as well. On arrival and after visa formalities – you will be received by company staff (guide and the driver) and driven to Thimphu. Check in to the hotel. Overnight stay in hotel in Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. If the arrival of the guests is very early, we can stroll downtown streets in the capital.

Day 2: Thimphu

The sightseeing – visit the Indigenous hospital where traditional art of healing is still practiced, Painting schools where 13 arts and crafts are taught to the students, National Library, Folk Heritage Centre, and Handicraft Emporium, Textile Museum etc. In the afternoon – visit the Memorial Chorten built in the memory of the late 3rd Monarch – King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, 15th century Changangkha monastery, Motithang zoo to see the rare “Takin” – a goat antelope which is also the national animal of Bhutan. Drive further down to have a good view of the Thimphu valley. Stroll around the town and back to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha

After breakfast drive to Punakha crossing the Dochula pass (3100m) that has 108 stupas built on the pass elevation. On bright day with clear sky, you will see the eastern Himalayan ranges including the highest mountain peaks of Bhutan – Mt. Gangkar Pheunsum – 7520m. The drive from the pass is all the way downhill to the lower and warmer valleys of Lobesa. Visit the Punakha Dzong that served as an old capital of Bhutan. This remarkable fortress is built between two rivers and has survived many glacial floods and fire. Every year during the month of February, a procession known as the Punakha Sherda takes place to commemorate the victory over the Tibetans. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Thimphu to Paro

After breakfast drive to Paro that takes approximately 45 minutes. On arrival , check in to the hotel. After check in the sightseeing around Paro starts – visit the ruined fortress of Drugyel Dzong which still attracts visitors due to the strategic location of the fort. The fort defended the Paro valley from the Tibetan invasion from the north in the early 17th century. On clear day, Mount Jhomolhari 7320m the second highest peak of Bhutan can be seen towering over the Dzong. Visit Kychu Lhakhang built in 659 AD and also Dumchey Lhakhang.

Drive back to through the beautiful valley to the Watch Tower which is locally known as Ta-Dzong. It houses the National museum built in the 1960s by the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. The seven layer/tier Museum highlights various aspects of Bhutanese culture and history dating back to the 7th century. A short walk downhill to the Rinpung Dzong which serves as the administrative center and school for monks. Walk further down crossing the traditional cantilever bridge into Paro Town. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5: Paro

After early breakfast morning hike to Taktsang monastery. The pones can be arranged with an extra cost for those who would like to hire. The hike which is all the way uphill takes about 3 – 4 hours through pine forests. The monastery clings to a huge granite cliff of 800m from the Paro valley. It is believed that the great Saint Padmasambhava or Guru Rimpoche in 8th century, flew on tigress from Tibet and meditated in a cave for 3 years, 3 months and 3 weeks here. Guru subdued demons while meditating who were trying to hinder the spread of Buddhism in the valley and in the Kingdom.

During the end of the 17 century, a monastery was built on the spot where the saint mediated and it is a pilgrimage site for every Bhutanese to visit once in their life time. Check into the hotel for a night.

Day 6:

See off at Paro International Airport. Our representative will bid farewell to our clients.
