    Detailed Itinerary

    The Thimphu festival or tshechu is Bhutan’s largest and most popular autumn festival held in the vicinity of Trashichhodzong, a 17th century fortress, under clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine. Thousands of people turn up for the four-day festival where colourful and ancient mask dances are performed in an open cobbled stone courtyard by monks and laymen.

    DAY1: Arrive Paro – Thimphu

    The flight to Paro is one of the most spectacular mountain flights in the world, with a constantly changing panoramic view of some of the highest mountains in the world. Our team representatives will welcome the clients at Paro International airport. After the lunch, enjoy afternoon sightseeing around Paro, that includes a visit to the Ta Dzong museum and the 7th Century Kyichu Lhakhang temple. After the lunch, drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.

    DAY2: Thimphu – Attend the Festival
    After the breakfast, drive to Tashichhodzong (fortress built in 17th century), to watch the Thimphu Tsechu or festival. The local population are dressed in their finest traditional outfits to celebrate the festival. It is a great festive mood for the locals on this auspicious day. There is inevitably, a great deal of socialising events all over. Overnight halt at hotel in Thimphu.

    DAY3: Thimphu – Sightseeing
    The tour of whole Thimphu, exploring the most famous tour spots around,  some of them are like – the Memorial Chorten (stupa), Buddha Point (tallest Shakyamuni Buddha statue), Farmers’ Centenary market, Folk Heritage museum, Tashichhodzong and local paper making plant etc. Overnight stay at your hotel in Thimphu.

    DAY4: Thimphu – Punakha
    Drive en-route  Dochu-La (pass) (3,100 meters), which on a clear day, offers, an incredible view of Himalayan peaks of Bhutan, before descending to gorgeous Punakha valley (about 3 hours drive). The drive through the countryside, gives a glimpse of everyday farming life in this most remoteness. While in Punakha, visit the Chorten Nebu temple, Punakha Dzong, the “Palace of Great Happiness” built in 1637 by the Zhabdrung, the ‘Unifier of Bhutan’ who who was also  popularly known as the great Guru Rimpoche (Padmasambhava). Punakha Dzong is situated at the confluence of the Mo Chu and Pho Chu (female and male rivers) and is the winter migratory fortress for the Je Khenpo (clergy head of Buddhism) and hundreds of his monks; from Thimphu to Puankha in warmer location. This migratory pattern is traditional and is practiced for ages.

    DAY5: Punakha – Thimphu – Paro
    After the breakfast in the morning, drive to Yobesa village and hike through rice terraces and up to Khamsum Yueley Namgyal Chorten, built by Her Majesty the, Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuk. Perched high up on a hill by the banks of the river, the Chorten (stupa),  houses paintings, belonging to Nyingmapa traditions. Then, drive back to Thimphu, where the clients will visit handicraft and souvenir stores or shops. After a while, proceed to Paro. Overnight stay at hotel in Paro.

    DAY6: Paro
    After the breakfast, we will hike up to Taktsang monastery, the uphill walk of approximately 2 to 2.5 hours. To those, who need poneys to ride, can avail it for the day hike. The view of Taktsang temple ( built over a cliff, of 10,00 feet masl, provides; a spectacular and breathtaking view infect. The lunch will be there on the way back from temple in  Takshang cafeteria.  If time in adequate, then drive to the Haa valley as well, which is one of the most picturesque districts in the Kingdom, en-route beautiful Chellela (pass). The Haa valley is characterised by its rugged surrounding and mountainous terrain. Overnight at hotel in Paro.

    DAY7: Depart Paro
    Early breakfast (if the flight is early, if not normal time) in the hotel, then drive to the airport for flight for farewell.
